Discover the night: A stargazing event In-Person
We'll start with an introduction to the night sky, no prior knowledge necessary. Together we'll learn how the sky moves throughout the night, how to find markers like the Big Dipper and Little Dipper, the North Star, and some of the bright constellations that can be seen even near the city lights. We'll also learn about the planets and how to find them, and lastly we'll cover how to use the telescope before we go outside.
Once outside at the telescope, you will be shown a host of deep-sky objects including the Hercules Cluster, the Ring Nebula, the Lagoon Nebula, the Swan Nebula, the Wild Duck Cluster and the Andromeda Galaxy. Saturn will be low on the horizon but visible toward the end of the evening, for those who stay to the end they'll be able to see Saturn and its rings! Anyone who'd like to is invited to bring your own telescope, we're happy to help you get it set up if they're not sure how it works.
