Colorado people & places: Finding my father – beyond tragedy, through trauma, and into freedom

Colorado people & places: Finding my father – beyond tragedy, through trauma, and into freedom In-Person

Marian Hobgood Poeppelmeyer, daughter of Marion Pierce Hobgood, will present the story of her journey to learn about her father, who was killed the night of November 1, 1955, along with 43 other passengers, when United Airlines Flight 629 (Mainliner Denver) exploded over beet fields in Weld County, Colorado. Finding my father is Marian's story, which delves into the ripple effect of tragedy and trauma in the life of this family who lost a husband and father in the first-ever commercial airplane bombing over US soil. How does one family pick up their shattered lives and move on? Can they move beyond their tragedy? “How does anyone?” asks author Marian Poeppelmeyer (https://www.marianpoeppelmeyer.com/) as she provides firsthand insight, and takes you on a reeling ride forty years later as she begins her relentless pursuit to know her father. In this search, she discovers her real dad and the need to understand forgiveness in a way she never asked for. What could you do if you walked in lasting freedom? Marian will bring copies of her book for purchase, 20% of proceeds will be donated to HPLD Friends & Foundation.
