Drunk and Disorderly: Union Sailors in the Civil War In-Person
Professor Robert Gudmestad will describe the social world of sailors in the Union Navy's Mississippi Squadron. As depicted in his book, The Devil's Own Purgatory, this Squadron was known for their heavy drinking and resistance to authority, yet they were effective sailors.
Following the author talk, there will be a Q&A session and a book signing. Books will be available for sale on-site. The event is free and open to the public. No registration is required.
